He, apparently did not win as Gabon Striker and Dortmund foward, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang took the award winning with 143 points and Yaya coming second having 136 points and Andre Ayew coming third with 112  points. These point were awarded based on votes from coaches and technical directors from CAF nations.

Toure expressed his displeasure on Radio France saying, "I think that's what makes the shame of Africa, to behave in this way is indecent! But what can we do?"

Yaya made claims saying the point were awarded based on International achievement judging by the  18 goals in 17 Bundesliga games that Aubameyang had this season and the total 68 goals in 119 matches after joining Dortmund from St-Etienne in 2013.
